The purpose of this study was to examine the role of mediating effects of emotion dysregulation and sluggish cognitive tempo(SCT) in the association between adult ADHD symptoms and interpersonal competence among college students. Participants were 290 Korean college students (126 males, 164 females) who were asked to complete self-report questionnaires assessing adult ADHD symptoms, interpersonal competence, emotion dysregulation, and SCT. Results of path analysis indicated that SCT and emotion dysregulation each mediated the relationship between ADHD inattention symptoms and interpersonal competence. Moreover, SCT¡¡and emotion regulation sequentially mediated the relationship between inattention symptoms and interpersonal competence. Furthermore, emotion dysregulation mediated the relationship between ADHD hyperactivity-impulsivity symptoms and interpersonal competence. The findings suggest that emotion dysregulation and SCT may explain the processes by which ADHD¡¡symptoms contribute to interpersonal difficulties and that they may be promising¡¡targets of the intervention for adults who show ADHD symptoms. Theoretical and clinical implications and limitations of the study are discussed.
